The challenge

Pemberton Low had good pay, fair hours and a 140-year history. To a 22-year-old, their website said none of that, and their trainee scheme was half empty.

The idea

We dropped the stock photos of handshakes and let current trainees write the recruitment pages. The new identity keeps the firm’s initials but loses the crest, and the careers site answers the questions graduates actually ask, salary first.

The result

Graduate applications rose 41% and the firm filled every trainee place for the first time in five years.
